Smith & Associates Real Estate is an independent, locally owned residential brokerage based in Tampa and describes itself as the largest locally owned real estate company in Tampa Bay. Mary Dupree Smith started the firm in 1969 with a single office and about 15 employees. It has since grown to more than 250 associates and around 40 staff across six offices in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Largo, with headquarters on W Bay to Bay Blvd in South Tampa. The company is led by President and CEO Bob Glaser. In 2020 it reported a record sales volume of 1.63 billion dollars. Its own figures now cite annual sales above 2 billion dollars and more than 2,900 transactions a year. Smith focuses on luxury homes priced at 1 million dollars and up, marketed through its Signature Collection. It is also the exclusive listing partner for many of the region's new condominium developments, including Waldorf Astoria Residences St. Petersburg, ONE Tampa, Pendry Residences Tampa and The Residences at The Tampa EDITION, and represents more than 2 billion dollars in new development inventory. The brokerage extends its reach through Luxury Portfolio International, Leading Real Estate Companies of the World and London-based Mayfair International Realty. In March 2021 it launched the Smith & Associates Real Estate Foundation as its charitable arm, and it reports more than 1.5 million dollars donated to local causes over six years.
