Story
The Greater Miami and the Keys Chapter of the American Red Cross runs its regional headquarters from SW 27th Avenue in Miami. The chapter covers more than 2.5 million people in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
Anyone affected by a house fire or another disaster can call the Red Cross at any hour. Members of the military, veterans and their families can get support in getting ready for, coping with and responding to the demands of military service through a line open around the clock.
The chapter teaches CPR, first aid, lifeguarding, swimming and water safety. Residents can volunteer or donate to help people hit by disasters of every size, and an online form is available for event requests.
