Story
The Broward County Chapter of the American Red Cross works out of Building Z at 4100 Powerline Road in Deerfield Beach. The chapter serves more than 2 million people who live in Broward County.
Residents affected by a home fire or another disaster can call 1-800-RED-CROSS around the clock. Members of the military, veterans and their families can get help with the pressures of military service through a separate line that is staffed 24 hours a day. The Red Cross also teaches CPR, first aid, lifeguarding, swimming and water safety.
Paula Prendergast joined the chapter as its Executive Director in 2014. She helped return the American Red Cross Dine & Dock Celebrity/CEO & Experience Auction Humanitarian Awards to the chapter, an event that builds awareness and raises money for the Red Cross mission.
Local supporters can donate, volunteer or organize an online fundraiser for the chapter.
