Story
Orlando Weekly is the Orlando area's award-winning alternative media company, covering local news, opinion, events and culture for more than 30 years.
Its story began in 1989, when the Toronto Sun Publishing Corp. bought a group of local publications. In 1990 it rebranded the Orange Shopper as The Weekly, a home-delivered tabloid. Alternative Media Inc. bought the paper in 1994 and in 1995 relaunched it as a true alternative weekly named Orlando Weekly. Today it is part of Orlando Events & Media, Inc., owned by Chava Communications.
