From prosecutor to defense attorney

Goodman started his legal career interning at the Federal Public Defender's Office for the Middle District of Florida. He then spent more than six and a half years as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County (2007–2013), learning first-hand how prosecutors build their cases.

As a prosecutor he:

• tried more than 80 cases to verdict, including death-penalty murder cases, traffic homicides, violent crimes and complex economic crimes
• served as Chief of Litigation for the Misdemeanor Domestic Violence Unit, training and supervising about 20 prosecutors
• worked on the Traffic Homicide Unit
• was specially assigned cases by the Office of the Governor
