Story
The Orlando Sentinel traces its roots to 1876, when the first edition of the Orange County Reporter was printed. In 1913 Orlando's South Florida Sentinel became a morning daily. In 1931 the Orlando Morning Sentinel acquired the Reporter Star, and Martin Andersen came to Orlando to manage both papers. He bought them in 1945 and sold them to the Tribune Company of Chicago in 1965.
In 1973 the Morning Sentinel and Reporter Star merged into a single daily, the Sentinel Star. It was renamed The Orlando Sentinel in 1982 and became simply Orlando Sentinel in 2000. In 2021 the paper was acquired by MediaNews Group.
