Story
Scientific Instruments, Inc. designs and builds cryogenic temperature sensors used in labs, industry and medicine. Its facility is located in West Palm Beach.
The company was started in 1967 by Jack Hoey, an aeronautical engineer, and Gilbert Halverson, a physicist. The founders developed the first commercially available germanium resistance thermometer and provided these thermometers to the Apollo Lunar Program.
Today the sensor line includes ruthenium oxide sensors, silicon diodes, platinum resistance thermometers and Zirnox sensors. For aerospace launch and ground support, the company makes cryogenic temperature probes such as the Series 44, 46, 54 and 56. Its instrumentation includes the Single Channel Model SCM10 and the TC-2 and TC-8 temperature controllers.
For LNG storage, the Model SI-7000 system measures tank level, temperature and density. The company also sells cryo-accessories, including Stycast 2850FT/Catalyst 9 and wire, and offers custom assemblies.
Scientific Instruments holds ISO 9001:2015 certification from Intertek.
