Story
The Salty Dog Candle Company makes candles from 100% plant-based soy wax, poured by hand in small batches in Tampa Bay. Candle maker Katie pours each one herself and names the scents after Tampa Bay neighborhoods and favorite sunsets.
For every candle sold, $2 is donated to a local animal rescue. Each quarter the company features one rescue, shares its story and reports what candle sales have funded; the current Rescue of the Quarter is Mercy Full Project in Tampa.
Katie came to Florida ten years ago, adopted a cat named Sasha and began fostering dogs, which showed her how much local rescues do with limited resources.
Businesses can buy wholesale starting at one case of 12, with custom labels at no extra charge, and each wholesale candle still sends $1 to a rescue. Wholesale partners include Barriehaus Beer Co. and Sky Puppy Brewing. Local delivery is available in Riverside Heights, Seminole Heights and Tampa Heights, other orders are shipped in 3 to 5 business days, and the company also sells at pop-up events around Tampa Bay.
