Story
Madison County Memorial Hospital was founded in 1937 and today is among 11 Florida hospitals designated as a Critical Access Hospital. It sits about half a mile from the Madison County Courthouse, roughly fifty-five miles east of Tallahassee.
The current building on NW Crane Avenue began admitting patients on August 1, 2014. The hospital offers 25 private rooms for patients.
Alongside an emergency room, diagnostic services include CAT scans, laboratory testing, mammograms, ultrasound and endoscopy. A swing bed program and inpatient and outpatient rehab provide speech, respiratory, occupational and physical therapy. Since 2020 the hospital has also offered wound care and general surgery.
It is overseen by the Madison County Health and Hospital District, whose seven board directors are chosen by Florida's governor.
