Story
Overview
The Duval County Supervisor of Elections office administers elections in Duval County, Florida, including Jacksonville. The office registers and maintains voter records, conducts early voting, vote-by-mail, and Election Day voting, recruits and trains poll workers, qualifies candidates, and publishes official election results and data. The office is led by Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland.
Locations
The office operates from two locations: its Main Office in downtown Jacksonville at 105 E. Monroe Street, and the Duval County Elections Center at 1 Imeson Park Blvd., Building 100, on the city's Northside.
Accessible Voting
Under Florida law, all voting methods must be fully accessible to voters with disabilities. Every polling place must be accessible and usable by persons with disabilities, including signed accessible parking, an accessible route, and adequate lighting, and each polling place provides at least one accessible voting system during early voting and on Election Day. Voters may also receive personal assistance at the polls, request an accessible online vote-by-mail ballot that can be marked privately at home, or, as residents of assisted living facilities and nursing homes, take part in supervised voting conducted by a team from the Supervisor of Elections office.
Democracy Starts Here Museum
The Elections Center houses Democracy Starts Here: From Ballots to Belonging, a 1,200-square-foot exhibit exploring how American democracy is built from the ground up, with local election offices as its foundation. The exhibit features more than 50 items, including a mechanical lever voting machine, a "hanging chad" display, voting systems from the 2000s through the 2020s, a 1930 district map, and a 1933 primary ballot. Digital artifacts include an 1870 local directory of elected and appointed officials, an 1888 Certificate of County Canvassers, and a 1932 poll tax receipt. Admission is free, and no tickets are required.
